A new song today
Sing a new song to the Lord;
he has done wonderful things!
By his own power and holy strength
he has won the victory.
The Lord announced his victory;
he made his saving power known to the nations. (verses 1,2)
Read Psalm 98
The game was over – the victory won! We lifted the coach high. And oh, what a party!
Each week there’s a new victory bash. For days people mull over the near-perfect mark, the marvellous defence, the game-saving goal. Each week there’s a new song of celebration.
We humans can think up a hundred different reasons to celebrate – weddings, birthdays, good fortune of all kinds.
And right now we are encouraged to celebrate our Lord’s majesty, power, wisdom and excellence, to sing a new song to the Lord.
Burst the banks.
Flood the throne with praises.
Let all in the streets and bush paddocks
know his power and might.
He does wonderful things.
Shout his victory to this generation all day long,
and on Sunday join the team of barrackers
and lift him high,
for he is almighty God.
Father, in adoration we bow on bended knee before you. We celebrate your great victory for us. We are humbled by your great love. Today let my life honour you. Amen.
