A child of God
War horse are useless for victory;
their great strength cannot save.
The LORD watches over those who obey him,
those who trust in his constant love.
He saves them from death;
he keeps them alive in times of famine.
(verses 17-19)
Read Psalm 33:12-22
The mother enters the art display room. Her eyes glide from painting to painting, passing over the beautiful colours of the grand champion, ignoring the style and patterns of the runner-up. At last she spies the crumpled, grubby picture in a far corner. Her eyes light up and she stands staring at it for a long time. It is her child’s and it is beautiful.
You are special to the Lord, because you are his child. His eyes pass over the rulers and the mighty ones. He ignores the rich and famous, unless they too are his children. He sees only you, and those who love him. The sight of you brushing your teeth in the morning delights him as much, if not more, than a non-believer giving millions to charity.
The Lord watches over you with his constant love. How precious is that thought!
Lord, you are with me always. Keep me strong in faith and help me to remain your child forever. Amen
