The Commission on Worship gives guidance to the Church, its pastors, congregations, institutions and auxiliaries in all phases of Christian worship in conformity with sound Lutheran principles. It serves congregations directly through regional workshops in congregations and zones, the publication of church rites and worship resources.

The commission's ongoing work includes the preparation of seasonal worship resources and service orders for Christmas and other occasions. It convenes the Visual Arts Awardsw which are sponsored by the Lutheran Laypeople's League, and provides suitable drama resources.
