School’s sign of the times
Students from Lutheran Ormeau Rivers District School (LORDS) at Pimpama on Queensland’s Gold Coast recently found a unique way to recognise the LCA’s 50.500 initiative and celebrate their own milestone.
At the school’s chapel assembly on Reformation Day the students from years 3, 4 and 6 created the 500 sign out of the LORDS and LCA logos and Luther’s Rose. The students formed the numeral ‘5’ in LORDS logos as the school turns five this year, ‘0’ in LCA logos to celebrate 50 years in 2016 since the church was formed, and ‘0’ from Luther’s Roses to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.
At the General Convention of Synod in 2015 the LCA launched the 50.500 faith.freedom.future initiative for this synodical period to celebrate, to commemorate, and to focus on the church that God is building.
