Made with love
Even before I speak,
you already know what I will say.
You are all around me on every side;
you protect me with your power.
Your knowledge of me is too deep;
it is beyond my understanding. (verses 4-6)
If you wanted a saddle, you went to a saddlery. But if you wanted the saddle, then you visited Jack. Jack didn’t make saddles—he created works of art. One-offs. Unique pieces made especially for you and your horse. And while Jack never created two saddles alike, on every one he carved four discreet initials beneath the girth strap: MWL,J. Made With Love, Jack. With that reminder, Jack released his saddle to be used for the purpose for which it had been made.
God has created something much more precious than a saddle: you. You were crafted by his hands. Made exactly to measure. Made for a purpose. Made to serve him and glorify him as no-one else can. He knows you better than anyone else, because he made you. Cell by cell. Millimetre by millimetre. Just the way he wanted you to be.
So you shouldn’t be surprised if, tucked away behind an earlobe or underneath a little toe, you might discover some tiny initials: MWL,G.
Creator God, you have made me with love! Remind me of this wonderful truth whenever I am feeling sad, ugly or unloved. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
