Leadership Training

  •

The principle is as old as the Old Testament - effective ministry must be supported by wise leaders, managers and administrators. Right through the Bible we see God choosing such people to support the work of his priests and prophets. Managers and administrators are God's gifted people who play important roles in supporting the mission work of the church. That's why the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) has committed to intentional and ongoing training for LCA leaders and congregational leaders through a training program in management and administration called Twenty20 Vision.

Twenty20 Vision

Twenty20 Vision will train 20 leaders over 20 months for the year 2020 and beyond. The course is being delivered by Grassroots Training, a division of Australian Lutheran College.

When the 20 students graduate they will gain a Diploma in Management and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This will equip them to offer training opportunities all over Australia and New Zealand for 300 to 500 members. After that, this training will be made available on a regular basis and as needs are identified.

In this way our LCA and congregational leaders will have the opportunity to be equipped better for the roles to which they have been called - no more 'winging it'. The training will also help us to ensure that our legal and regulatory obligations are properly understood and fulfilled by the many boards, councils and committees across the LCA.

Twenty20 students are currently delivering three courses across Australia and New Zealand:

  • LCA Administration
  • Introduction to Finance
  • Governance.

We're encouraging every congregation to send at least one person to one of these courses.
