Within our church, many people volunteer their time, gifts and skills to various ministry opportunities. We praise God for these people and for those who will follow in their footsteps.
Many departments of the LCA are supporting lay members with professional development and personal-interest opportunities in order to build on the gifts and skills required to serve our church.
Australian Lutheran College
Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology (10433NAT)*
This Vocational Education Training (VET) course is a practical, hands-on study option for those wishing to complete a qualification, while learning valuable tools to assist them in their ministry roles within the church. Using a combination of workshops and group studies, student feedback has shown that the local context application of the course is highly valued.

Grassroots Training is a ministry of Australian Lutheran College (ALC). Grassroots Training provides many options for individuals or groups to grow in their faith, ministry skills and knowledge through a variety of different methods, including workshops, seminars, group studies and classes.
Thanks to the generosity of ALC staff, these Evening Classes are available to the general public to attend for personal interest or professional development.
Classes are held over a 4 week period at Australian Lutheran College (104 Jeffcott Street, North Adelaide).
Previous class topics have included:

Grassroots Training offers ministry groups a number of pre-packaged workshops on a variety of topics. Current topics available are:
- Equipping for Leadership
- Toolkit for Ministry
- Building Healthy Relationships
- Spiritual Resilience
- Leading Ministry Teams
- Home and Church in Partnership
Grassroots Training can also provide for ministry groups customised training on a variety of topics, delivered as workshops, seminars, retreats, leadership and small group training and classes. Grassroots Training have designed for small groups a variety of relevant and engaging group studies. These group studies have been written from an Australian context, and have had input from topic specialists to give a solid foundation to the material presented, and all studies have been 'tested' in small groups for feedback and clarity of information before being made available to the general public.
Each group study is divided into 8 x 1.5 hour sessions, and the study format is based on an interactive and reflective model. The group study material can either be led by one key person each session, or can be shared among the group members. The handbooks have an easy to follow format, with additional questions and reflection opportunities for group members to do in between sessions.
