Aboriginal Ministry in the Lutheran Church in Australia

Central Australia (Finke River Mission)

There are more than 6000 Aboriginal Lutheran Christians in more than 60 communities with 4 main Aboriginal language groups in Central Australia. Local, self-supporting congregations have been established. Twenty three Aboriginal pastors serve local communities. Scripture translation is being undertaken by several skilled linguists working in close cooperation with groups of indigenous co-translators. A Lutheran boarding school providing education for post-primary children is located in Alice Springs.

South Australia (Aboriginal Ministry South Australia)

Aboriginal Ministry South Australia has involvement with Aboriginal people in urban communities in Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, and Port Augusta; and also in rural communities at Ceduna, Koonibba, Scottdesco, Yalata and Oak Valley.
